My stay at Okyeon Jeongsa was truly one of the highlights of my three week trip to Korea. I have a couple quibbles but honestly, waking up to birdsong and stepping out of my room to the sight of a lazy river and mist-shrouded mountains was magical. So wonderful and memorable. And after touring a few palaces in Seoul, listening to the guides explain the underfloor heating system, when I knelt down in my bedroom at Okyeon Jeongsa and the floor was warm on my legs--wow. Gorgeous hanok and so many details combine to make it an experience. Plus, I'm a vegetarian and the host was really accommodating with breakfast. Korean food is not vegetarian friendly and they really went out of their way for me. Plus good communication, great instructions about how to reach Hahoe Folk Village, and the like. The one warning I want to give is that I stayed in a room that was part of a suite that had been cut in half, to make a room on either side, and calling the walls paper thin would be euphemistic. There really wasn't a wall at all, so I could hear the couple in the other room when they spoke, coughed, poured water, rustled their suitcases, etc. It was a bit awkward. My judgment still lands well on the side of 'magical' but that could be a dealbreaker for some. Also, while the bathroom is a short walk from the room, it's modern and updated and private, really quite nice. No complaints there at all.

A unique experience
Staying here was a truly unique experience. You get to stay in a historic building at a stunning location. I really enjoyed the special atmosphere of the place, both at night and then in the morning. On top of that, everything is well run with clean and comfortable rooms and an amazing breakfast. Thank you again for the great stay - too bad that I could only stay for one night...
