Minshuku Suhara

A beautifully preserved traditional house, located in a quiet, traditional looking village. The house is enormous and fun to explore. There's a small 'musem' area in the entrance hall, a beautiful traditional fireplace (not for use), tatami floors, but modern toilets, (wooden) bathroom and kitchen. There's no heating (as is usual in old houses), but the owner prepared a heater in the bedroom/living room so it was very cosy. There is a big supermarket a short walk away. Perfect for a short stay while exploring the Nakasendo.

It's a huge inn, great for groups. Stayed in while mid-way through the Nakasendo Hike. Shops to buy food are nearby and kitchen to cook was good. Bath was wood and really nice!

Off the track place. Old building with antiques inside. There is a kitchen and three rooms downstairs. Supermarket is close. Recommended if you speak Japanese and arrive by car.
