FUKEIKAN

Fukeikan is an absolute gem! The staff were extremely welcoming, hospitable and helpful. The hot spring baths were truly magical with views of the spectacular river valley. And the presentation and quality of the food was beyond exceptional! Not to mention the stunningly beautiful lobby and rooms. I was sad to leave and hope to return again someday!

I was looking for open air onsen with nice view, and the hotel met my expectation. Dinner and breakfast were ok, breakfast is better. The hotel has 200 years history and current building is quite old, which was absolutely fine for me, but if you are looking for new and fancy hotels, you might find this hotel not satisfactory. The location is quite deep in the mountain. If you find a relaxing, luxury-of-doing-nothing(exception enjoying onsen, view, and food), I believe this location is great.

I spent two nights here and it was an amazing experience. I wanted something special and we certainly got it. Firstly the people who run Fukeikan offer exceptional service. They looked after us as if we were family. Organised everything necessary for our incredible visit to the Snow Monkeys. The hotel was surrounded by the most beautiful nature and the experience of walking in the snow 150 steps to bath nude in the Onsen was something I’ll be talking about for years. The dinners we had were probably the best Japanese food Ive ever eaten. I definitely want to return. My 25yr old Son loved it too. The 4 stars for cleaning was only because this hotel isn’t brand new. In fact its just celebrated its 250yr Birthday.
