Friendly family Inn
Couldn’t have had a better visit. It’s quirky and lived in because 3 generations work here. Food from father radish is amazing including rare mountain vegetables foraged that day. We had baked chocolate vine. Who knew? Very close to a big onsen house but Radish house has a super sweet onsen in the basement. Maree speaks reasonable English if that matters to you. If you want to experience real Japanese warmth and hospitality I’d come here. Make sure you taste the famous smoked radish.

The hotel is a pension. Room has no en-suite. It was not stated in the overview. I made a mistake booking this pension as I prefer to have a toilet in my room The price is very reasonable including dinner n breakfast. For those on a budget it is worth considering.

Warm welcoming guest house
This was a warm welcoming guest house in Senboku. You can stay here to save budget before/after going to Nyuto onsen (pricy ones!). The host was a kind family and could speak English. They were kind. There were 2 onsen room (private) that guests could feel free to use.
